Hi gang,

Good time to do your late summer/fall planning and get your reservation in for what should be a really great three GMC club rally on the Oregon coast at Coos Bay, OR, October 2 through 7. All five of the major west coast clubs will be present with three, GMCWS, GMC Cascaders and GMC 49ers as the official hosts. In addition to GMCs coming from Canada and all over the west there are caravans already planned coming from the GMC Pacific Cruisers from the LA basin. We also expect a big turnout from the SW based GMC Saguaro Jet Setters as well. I also hear tell of GMCers coming from the other side of the Rockies so it should be a great turnout. And, we will have a lot of your favorite vendors, some doing live demos of their newest stuff. If you want to put together your own caravan, a number of our members will be publishing self guided tours for coming from all points of the compass — well, maybe not from the west! Oh, and if everything works out we will have a surprise speaker who lived through the birth of the modern RV business in the US on hand to talk about how so many of the now common names got started. I don't think you will want to miss that special event.

We have full hookup room for 100 coaches with nearly unlimited adjacent dry camping for the rest. The first 100 to sign up will receive a special art piece that Sharon and I have commissioned from metal artist, Serene Silva of Santa Cruz, CA. In addition to a full suite of seminars covering all aspects of how to restore, maintain and modernize your GMC and how to get the most from the GMC lifestyle, we are planning a whole media day with live vendor demonstrations in the morning and open houses in the afternoon. We hope to attract regional media interest so more people can learn the joys of these fine old coaches.

A special treat for many will be the optional tour, student food sampling and wine paring event at the nearby culinary arts center. All transportation will be provided. We also will be going to the estate of lumber baron Louis Simpson that is now a beautiful State Park featuring the outstanding gardens and breathtaking views of the ocean with our own guided tour. Again, all the transportation is provided. And, for those of you who really like to be pampered, most our meals (except for the special Saturday BBQ and lunch on your own) will be catered by the Mill Casino, Hotel and RV park staff so you won't get pressed into food service duties this time. Bring your swimming suits if you enjoy sitting in the hot tubs overlooking Coos Bay watching the commercial shipping traffic go by.

We are featuring a risk free early registration process. If you need to cancel for any reason and do so prior to August 25 you will receive a 100% refund. That is the date we have to commit to the caterers and the RV park so after that cancellation refunds will be made only if we can after paying all the rally expenses.

The full rally info and registration forms are available at GMCWS.org, gmc-cascaders.com, or sites.google.com/site/gmc49ersclub, so ya’ll come! See you there.

We have also created a list of the task assignments that will allow you to directly participate in help making this one of the best west coast rallies ever. You can help with things like scheduling the two seminar tracks (which don't overlap so you can enjoy all of both tracks), managing the media open houses, vendor relations and scheduling the vendor demos, safety and security, the nightly happy hours, the special Saturday night BBQ, publicity, or developing the self guided rolling rally routes from wherever you are to the rally. Just let us know where you would like to serve and we will put you in touch with your team members, the other folks from around the country who want to contribute in the same way. Great way to get to know GMCers from other clubs and other places. Thanks.
