Hi all,
Just got back from the GMC Sahuaro Jetsetters rally at Distant Drum RV Park
on Arizona I-17 about 90 miles north of Phoenix. These AZ folks are a lot of
fun. We all went on the Verde Valley Railroad Tour, a 4 hour trip up into
the hills. Very scenic. We had our own 1st class car with a bar and lunch.
Did I mention the bar!!. Next day up into the hills to Jerome, an old
mining down that literally clings to the side of the cliff. Excellent St.
Paddy’s day dinner with corned beef and cabbage, potatoes and lots of other
stuff at the park with tables and chairs out in front of the coaches.
Weather really nice. The park is awesome, definitely recommend it to anyone
going up into the Sedona/Flagstaff area. Joanne and I went into Sedona on
Thursday night night for dinner. The OAK CREEK Grill right before the bridge
into town is awesome. Good food and surprisingly inexpensive considering it
is Sedona.
Coach ran great. A good solid 8-9 mpg pulling the Tracker. Picked up a nail
in the right rear of the Tracker somewhere. The tires on it are BFG offroad
and the sidewalls are so stiff that I have no idea where I picked up the
nail. Had a new spare so changed it in the park.
Top 10 observations:
1. If Steve F. wants to sell you any raffle tickets make sure you
listen to what he says. He will tell you that you get 12 tickets for 5 bucks
and then he take 6 of them back for the draw so you really only get 6
tickets.
2. Jim Dechiene has got some excellent jokes.
3. Seems like there are more pets that people these days at RV Parks.
4. Why is it that I always seem to get parked next to 40 ft coaches
that make my GMC seem like a toy?
5. Why do folks with 40 ft. coaches always wear rubber gloves when
emptying their holding tanks.
6. A Jeep Wrangler weighs 4200 lbs.
7. How many times at a fuel stop have you heard some guy say….”I used
to know a guy that had one of those”
8. Best Mexican food in the USA at Cordes Junction Shell station on
I-17 about 65 miles north of Phoenix. The Charro Grill is awesome. Our third
stop and they and they continue to serve the best.
9. Used ˝ quart of Mobil 1 synthetic over the 600 miles.
10. New A-6 A/C compressor and recharge worked flawlessly.
Our coach is 40 years old (yikes)
Thanks,
Gary and Joanne Worobec
