1973 GMC Sequoia, Portland Oregon

There is a project coach that just popped up on ebay. It is an example of why I always advise people to get the coach usable and USE it a while before doing major changes.

Anyway from the ad:

KNOWN HISTORY

This GMC has been garaged most of its life and still retains its all original exterior paint and decals. According to the included records the previous owner bought the motorhome Aug. of 1991 (for $16,250.00) and had it until November of 2010 when I bought it. During his19 years of ownership a complete renovation was started: The GMC was first taken to a transmission shop and the transmission was completely rebuilt. Next the motor was pulled out and taken to DSU Peterbilt GMC truck services in north Portland, Oregon and the Oldsmobile 455 engine was completely rebuilt. I understand some engine upgrades were performed at this time also. Once returned, the engine was re-installed into the motorhome. During this time the owner was also having a new custom home built on some property. When the new home and custom RV garage (built just for this GMC) were completed it was driven there and parked in its garage. The owner started pulling the interior out for a complete remodel – but somewhere along the way his attention was pulled off the project and it ended up sitting for some 15 years.

The GMC was eventually put up for sale - uncompleted.

I bought this GMC along with the interior and spare parts in 2010 with the intent of completing the partial renovation.

After sitting for so many years the motor turns over but will not start (I’m sure the fuel tanks would need to be flushed and new fuel put in). I had it towed.

Due to a costly ongoing home remodel project the GMC is now up for sale the same as I had bought it. ...

The description of the engine sounds "interesting."

I have emailed the seller to set up a time to look at the coach. I REALLY do _NOT_ want another project so if anyone is actually interested please contact me. I'll help as I can.
