We went this weekend to Hilton Head Island SC, to the Coastal Discovery Museum there.  Dry camping for two days of dog shows.  The GMC ran flawlessly, one leg, from Buford GA to Metter GA on no alcohol 90 proof gas, 10.02MPG pulling the toad, cruise set at 2500 RPM which gives about 63MPH according to the GPS.  All freeway, didn't come out of cruise at all.
The bright spot of the weekend, the Big White Dog will hencefoth be referred to as Champion Big White Dog, thanks to Sunday's judge.  (One could refer to him as Champion Double Ring Chestnut Mountain's JazzMan, but Ch BWD seems a lot simpler.  We call him Jazz)
Cold as a frog, so I ran the genset all friday nioght, about ten hours, and my electric heater kept us comfortable.  The bad spot - I went to fire it back up Saturday evening, and no action.  No click, no nothin'.  On inspection, solenoid pulls in, supplied 12V to the starter cable, but nothing, not even a click or grind.  Pulled on the cable and discovered, the starter has departed the engine.  Either the bracked recracked where I welded it, or it broke someplace else.  We repaired to the Motel 6 for the evening.  It will come out next weekend, and most likely il >not< go back.  Enough Junkerac fer me.  If measurement shows the Kohler 4500 from my SOB will fit, in it goes.  Otherwise, I will do a Col Ken with something from TSC, probably the Briggs they had.
All up, just over 650 miles of freeway.  The toad pulled well with the remounted towbvar clips, nothing loose or stressed.  It also now has safety chains on the hitch and the toad tow eyes.
