I noticed this year my old Techumseh powered 70's Ariens snowblowers (5 HP 20" and 8 HP 24") for the first time ever had severe carb gumming. Throttle shafts stuck WOT so govenor could not overcome and regulate speed. I've never used any additives and never had a problem. Till now. Then, I was at the Deere dealer (wallet in hand) to buy suitcase weights for the rear of my tractor and saw the clearly posted warning sign on ethenol and engine damage. The counter lady showed me the Briggs and Stratton additive which seems to cover all the bases. Here is a link.
