I have developed a power steering leak somewhere. I changed the oil and checked the PS fluid and the reservoir was almost empty. I can see to the bottom of housing(that's low).
The fluid is reddish. The Prestone PS fluid I bought was clear/yellowish (I have not filled it up yet). At the parts store I also saw where they have a "stop leak" power steering additive. Another parts guy indicated that some older vehicles used transmission fluid in the PS reservoir. I did not see any reference in the manual other that GM 10500017 for fluid replacement.
What would be your choice of power steering fluid?
