New carpet, new coach, gonna have the engine cover up...no doubt. How to keep my greasy hands off the new carpet. Hummm

When I changed my belts a few weeks ago I was really, REALLY careful and still put my hands down a couple times. Fortunately they didn't leave any incriminating evidence.

So I bought a cheap small rug and was going cut an engine cover sized hole in the middle so I could lay it over the engine hole if I had to lift the cover.

The other night I was driving past a new subdivision and saw an open house sign and a bunch of new carpet scraps sitting beside the road. I don't know why but it hit me then....carpet protector film.

This is the stuff you see at open houses. It's a clear film that clings to the carpet and provides a 'path' for the folks to walk while keeping the new carpet clean. It sticks to the carpet but doesn't leave a residue. I bought a 24" roll last night at Lowes for about $14 and cut it into three 8" widths.

If I have to pull the engine cover, I'll just tape off the areas I want to protect. (Sides, seat risers, and back step mainly) I'm confident this will work perfectly.
