My 77 has pretty nice original beige paint. Still shiny and solid. The stripe however, is a different story. It has bubbled, peeled, been repainted with a brush at least once and while it looks good at 20' up close it leaves a bit to be desired. I'm wondering if anyone has had any success sanding off just the stripe and repainting something over the stripe area?

I've painted a few cars but they were whole car repaints from bare metal. I've never attempted a partial of this nature.
