Just returned from a 15 day trip down the Oregon coast. The original intent was for thew trip to be about a week longer and go as far south as Arcata, CA, but I was not ready on time. We also found too many distractions along the way. (Sorry Jerry. This is at least the third time we have intended to go from Crescent City to Medford and run out of time.)
With one exception, we stayed in Oregon State Parks. They are arguably the best to be found anywhere. The ones we used all had trail networks, for walking or biking, that linked to beaches and other points of interest. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Two of my favourites were Bullards Beach, at Bandon, and Champoeg near Salem. We had exceptional luck with the weather - no rain. I can't say I'm disappointed in not getting to test whether I was successful at caulking the trouble spots.
Only two minor problems with the coach enroute. We threw an a/c belt and when I replaced it, I had trouble getting the tension right. The belt immediately twisted and I never was able to get it corrected. On our way home, we stopped for gas at Shelton,WA. We went into one of the stores and when we retuned to the coach, neither one of our keys would open the door lock. AAA sent Olympic Lock and Key. The fellow was really nice and had us on our way in short order. His advice was to never use graphite. His weapon of choice - Tri Flow Superior.
For any of you who may not have visited Oregon, the state offers a wide range of geography and ecosystems. Each of them is worth a visit.
