Years back I had a problem with my choke. The coil tested properly and I couldn't see why it wasn't working right. Then I thought about the ground. It got its ground through the connection where it is bolted to the rusty manifold. I soldered a #10 wire to the side of the choke housing and put a terminal on the other end of the wire and fastened it underneath a bold head on the pull out frame and all problems went away with the choke. It has been that way for several years now and still is working fine.
