Hi all,

We have recently purchased two Brompton folding bikes to replace our two high-end Dahon folding bikes that we have carried on the back of our GMC for a couple of years. We have really enjoyed the Dahons, and they work well for us, but the Bromptons fold into a smaller package better suited for airline and cruise ship travel. We are going to sell the two Dahons and the special rack custom built for them that some of you have seen at various rallies. The rack mounts onto a deflated GMC spare tire. Once the tire is inflated it locks the rack in place so it cannot be removed. The rack holds the two folded Dahons via their seat tubes with any brand of cable locks. The rack also holds two folding chairs, a folding table and a BBQ. Everything can be accessed from the ground without climbing and the bikes only extend about 6" beyond the spare tire. Really slick.

The Dahons are both still current models. They currently retail for $1200 to $1400 each. Both have 20" Schwalbe Big Apple tires that have never flatted and provide a really nice, efficient ride with little rolling resistance. We use the German Schwalbe tires on all our bikes as we have found them to be far superior to any other tires we have used.

One bike is a Dahon Speed TR (http://www.bicycletouringpro.com/blog/dahon-speed-tr-touring-bicycle-review), the other a Dahon Jetstream P8 (http://www.thorusa.com/dahon/current/jetsream.htm).

The Speed TR features a German SRAM 24 speed dual-drive system with a 3 speed internally geared rear hub and an 8 speed derailleur. It also has a built in Shimano dynamo hub with front and rear lights. We removed the wire racks and replaced them with a German Rixon-Kaul KlickFix luggage carrier that is really slick to use. You can ride to the store and bring back your groceries and beverages in any one of the available Rixon-Kaul bags (http://www.Klickfix.com).

The Jetstream P8 is a full suspension bike with a four link elastomeric front suspension, an adjustable air shock rear suspension and a German SRAM eight speed twist shift derailleur. Both bikes handle my 6', 230 pounds with ease and fit Sharon comfortably as well.

You can see the bikes and the rack system in either of the two presentations we have given at GMC rallies on preparing yourself and your coach for long distance trips. Both of these presentations are on the GMC page on my web site, http://jerrywork.com.

The first $1300 takes the bikes, the custom rack and two unused Dahon padded carry bags. It all can be shipped quickly and at a reasonable cost via Greyhound bus or we can deliver them at the next GMC rally we attend. We are not able to make GMCWS in Utah this month, but likely will be at one or more of the GMC rally events in the south west this winter. Let me know off line if you are interested (glwork@mac.com).
