OK guys, here's great challenge for all of you electronics experts.
I got my hands on an awesome radio out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, it has a 6 CD
changer, satellite capability, etc., so I'm fired up to put it in the coach.
I got new speakers and have them all installed and I go to install the radio
and........OH OH... DANG !!!
Th2009 Jeeps (and most other newer vehicles I've found out) come with this new
CAN-BUS system. This radio needs the CAN-BUS system just to allow TURNING IT ON
!
There's a 12v DC lead and a ground for full time power, and then a Can Bus +
lead and a Can Bus - lead.
I've dug into this CAN BUS thing to the point it's just about turned my brain to
oatmeal.
Various companies make adapters to you can put after market radios into the new
CAN BUS vehicles, but I haven't been able to find a thing that will allow a CAN
BUS radio to be put into an older vehicle.
Any ideas or does anyone know where I can get a so-called CAN BUS adapter or
simulator ???
There has to be a way to make this work.
Thanks for any help you can give.
