My coach is on the road. I'm still working out a number of minor issues, but it's road worthy.

It starts. It steers (straight and true), and man does it stop. I've owned sports cars that don't stop like the motorhome does.

Here come a bunch of thank you's to folks both on the list and off, with a piece of warped commentary.

Bob Burkitt - thank you for being there and some of the early introductions to "the community" (and the requisite "back-story" that keeps me and my opinionated big mouth out of trouble). Bob took the time to meet me when I looked at the "build coach".

The community is what makes the GMC what it is today. There is nothing like it.

What started out as replacing the radiator (Gene - the aluminum radiator, and the service, rocks), turned into a one ton front end (Manny - you turned me back into the wrench turner I was in the late 70's - thanks), and then a reaction arm setup with rear disc's (JimK and Nick, both lifesavers). Dave Lenzi's parts are simply amazing (as was his patience with my returning cores). Jerry Work's front end tools are a lifesaver, and I never thought I would ever do a front end alignment (not to mention bogies).. Ken H, a very nicely documented electric wiper conversion, and Sully was great to meet on the phone in getting the new bags set and in place. Tom Phipps --- thanks for listening to the occasional whine. You've been a GMC owner more than once, right?<G>

That's the big stuff. Invariably, I missed someone. Mea Cupla. All the information gleaned here and on the phone from GMC owners was essential.

Why all the labor and the expense?

What started out as something to haul the race car trailer, attracted the attention of our eldest daughter who likes to trailer out horses with friends and trail ride. She has designs on the GMC for the fall, into the spring, and beyond.

It was one thing to bring a 35 year old vehicle to a standard where the guy with the tool box was in the front left seat.

It's another when you're waving goodbye and your 22 year old daughter is in your seat, with a gold colored trailer with a truly "live" load is in the back.

That's the standard I had to meet in getting it ready.

It's there. In some very important ways, better than new.

A couple of more weeks of shakedown, and then on to Iowa. Hope to see you there.

FWIW - I've not had this much fun getting dirty in years. It's also gratifying to see something that you did work, and work well.

Thank you all for the help and the encouragement.

Dolph
