HI KEN,

No I did not know you were a pilot.....by the way..it's PLOESTI...POLESI is AKA Nancy..ex speaker of the House..

Yes, I've heard the same story about the pows in Romania....

The US Air Force started a serious campaign to bomb Ploesti in 1944 when we had air fields in Italy...They had hundreds of B24s and B17s bombing during the day..then at night the English took over...Finally every one of the 14 oil refineries were destroyed and when the Russians entered Ploesti..they were mad at the Americans because the Russians had to rebuild all the refineries....You can't win...

Any questions on the Low Level I'll be glad to answer...Still can remember and have a book plus made a DVD on Ploesti.

He later earned Aeronautical and Industrial Engineering degrees from Texas A&M. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2008.

My wife's father Paul Crosier, Roanoke, VA, served in the Navy -- an ensign in Natal, Brazil and later a ltcmdr in the Pacific at Saipan. He was killed in an auto accident in 1953. Her step-father, Henry "Hank" Starke, Arcadia, MI, served in the Army air corps as a Captain. We have very limited history on either and are hoping to understand more of what they experienced during that time.
