To Karnes County, Tejas last week with the toad clipped on, for the shows in San Antonio. Winner's Dog each day, anoher boy giot Best of breed each day. Sigh.
The GMC ran fine in the heat, I took along my listing for each State from Prue-gas dot org, and until I hit Tejas kept it filled with no alcohol gas. No vapor lock at all, even in the 100+ degree heat. Interestingly, Tejas has very few no ethanol gas stations.. something over 800 to Louisiana's 4K or so. Wonder why this is. All my driving Houston to Karnes County and back was done on 10% gas, but done early in the morning before it got too hot, so no troubles there.
The new roof A/c worked flawlessly. It was bearable throughout the trip. And a Good Thing, because the dash air has sprung a major leak. I suspect the compressor seal, troubleshooting is on hold till my work slacks off a bit. Duracool stays in it for maybe three or four hours. The Junkerac ran lawlessly, I suspect this is due to a goosd install. I need to go find the paperwork and see who put it in. Since the automatic choke is inoperable, I start it from the bay, and choke it manually to get it going. This also has me give it a quick look and oil check each time I start it.
One night in the Lafayette LA KOA, average KOA. One night in a nice little RV park on US 90 West of Waveland. 25 bux, cahs only, she offered to write a receipt which I declind. I suspect the taxman isn't gonna hear about that twenty five. Run by a Cajun extended family, mostly long-term residents, maybe a third were overnighters or weekenders. Shady Nook RV, or something close to that. Highly recommended. Electirc, water, sewer, wifi, concrete pads or gravel. Tables and a grill. No cable TV, but they had Direct TV portable packages for those who wanted. For overnight, not worth the hassle, but a viable solution for a week or more. $75 deposit requitred for the equipment, refunded on return.
Anyway, a nice 2400 mile run in the heat. 9+mpg with the toad clipped on. One quart of Rotella 15-45.
