Hi Everyone,
My husband and I have been lurking here for the past couple of months and figured it was time to get out of the shadows. My husband and I have two older children (already out of the house) and 2 year old triplets. We had done a lot of research about fulltime RV living with kids and decided we wanted to give it a go. Almost 3 months ago we stumbled upon a GMC motorhome while looking for one to buy.
We both loved the look and after reading a lot about them we were hooked. It was just the right size for us, easy to drive and to get around. We ended up trading the guy one of our cars for the GMC ($3500 value). We know that the owner before him must have loved it because he kept meticulous records, receipts, and every manual on it. The guy we got her from though had completely trashed her. It's a long story (and currently being detailed on our blog) but in short he lied about tons of stuff and the extent of her rebuild has been a lot more then we ever expected. The only thing he didn't lie about was the AC unit working but that broke last week too (in 105 degree weather no less)
So after a couple months of having her, and just completing our first month of living in her, we still have a long way to go to get her where we want her (and where she needs to be). I have to say that there has been a great deal of information you guys have shared that has really helped and we appreciate it. There doesn't really seem to be anyone around us that knows much about this RV, fixing her, part replacement and so on, which has made it a little harder. We're learning though.
Even with all the problems we have had and ones we are still facing, we absolutely love our GMC and refuse to give up on her.
I look forward to talking to everyone and getting some good advice from people who know this rig well.
