Hi, all. I found a nice covered storage spot for my '78 Royale, and it's effectively covered from all angles but the front (it's up against two walls, with a roof over all but the last foot or so). So my only problem with sun is going to be that it'll be getting mid-to-late morning sun. Keep in mind this is the Arizona sun I'm talking about... the paint's in great shape, though the black stripes around the nose have already been repainted once due to the same issue.
My question: what's the best way to protect JUST the front of the rig when it's in storage? I'm not interested in throwing a full cover on it (way too much trouble to get on and off). I'd love to find the front 6' of a cover that I could bungee onto the rig, but I doubt that's going to happen (unless someone has a used cover for sale that for some inexplicable reason has a great front and worn out/damaged rear).
I was also thinking that the dimensions of the GMC might work out so that a car cover would wrap from the front bumper up to the roof (where I could bungee it onto the A/C unit, railing, canopy mounts or whatever). I can buy a el cheapo car cover (in size L, XL, or XXL) at the local dollar store for $20, which is cheaper than a tarp. I'm also considering using some pool noodle (floats) to keep the cover off the paint (I figure a few $1 noodles, a couple lengths of rope from the bumper to the roof, a few strategically placed knots, and I won't have to worry about cover abrasion - much).
But I know that someone here has to have worked out the Perfect Solution [tm] for this problem, and I'm here to bask in the collective wisdom of the ages.
