G'day,
I mentioned that I'm building a '69 VW Beetle to use as a towd and I need to
figger out what instruments I should install.
It's mildly hot; description below:
Bore: 90mm
Stroke: 69mm (standard non counterbalanced crank - limits RPM to around
5500)
Displacement - Patriotic - 1776 ;-)
Engle Cam: W-110
Heads: mildly ported / single valve springs
Intake valves: 40mm
Exhaust valves: 35.5
Carb: Weber progressive 2 barrel - runs on one - two when you kick it
External oil cooler with fan
Distributor: 009 w Compufire ignition module (no points)
Alternator conversion
I'm going to watch Samba (VW website) for a reasonably priced air
conditioning system.
To the question at hand:
I bought panels that replace the ones on either side of the speedo.
On the left there's a big hole for the tachometer and holes for two other
gages; I'm thinking oil press and oil temperature.
On the right there's two holes and I'm thinking cylinder head temp and TBD.
TBD is Amp gauge or Battery volt gauge?
Comments please.
Regards,
Rob M.
