I decided to start a new thread because the original was becoming fragmented and long.
There have been reports from a very few (3)of those who have purchased the Sullybilt system that there is a lack of clearance to the interior vertical wall of the wheel well with the new larger airbag. It appears that a great disparity exists in the distance between the bogie arms and the inner wheel well on our coaches. This disparity likely has many causes including manufacturing variances, design changes, coach age, condition and positioning of bogie arms, and owner modifications. I personally would not want to buy a suspension product which required major modifications to my wheel well or strayed away from the original suspension design. For the above reasons, I have come up with a newly designed model of the Sullybilt system to accommodate those with reduced clearance on the wheel well. The kit is the same price as the original system and uses the same mounting hardware and Firestone air spring but provides for an additional 1/2" of clearance of the Plates and airbag. The only information I need from those who desire the kit is a simple measurement from the center of the existing airbag mount stud to the vertical wall of the wheel well.
THE AIRTECH AIRBAGS WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A DIRECT INTERCHANGE FOR THE FIRESTONE RUN WIDER AT OPERATING PRESSURE AND WILL INCREASE THE PROBABILITY OF A CONFLICT. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USE OF THE AIRTECH AIRBAG WITH MY KITS.
I will soon have the video of the installation I performed at the GMCMI convention earlier this year at Shawnee. Once I have it edited I will post a link to it on my website as well as some photos of the measurement being taken so you can be sure it is done correctly at the correct location. Those of you who may be on the fence about purchasing this system should watch the video and see how sturdy this system is and the ease of installation. I believe after viewing you will be convinced of its value. I will post another thread when I have updated my website with the video and other new information.
