I googled insulation and came across "VIP" vacuum high tech insulation. R50 for 1 inch. $25 per square foot retail, it is sold to make custom high efficiency coolers etc. and for NASA.

It looks like you can make a high efficiency custom 12v refrigerator pretty easy using this stuff to keep the cool in.

Has anyone looked into this for insulating the roof/walls of a motorhome?

What other insulators have you used for roof, sides, and floor other than fiberglass and what are their R values and how did they work out for you?
