You may remember about a month ago, I had trouble with my generator while dry camping at the dunes near Yuma. This afternoon I had a chance to replace the low oil pressure switch and it seems to have fixed the problem. After replacing the switch, I fired up the Onan and ran it under a partial load (Pelonis electric heater, water heater, Fridge on AC, etc.) for about twenty minutes. It ran perfectly.
Thanks for all the help with this. It was a simple and inexpensive repair thanks to the help and advice I received from this forum.
There has been some discussion about alternative energy solutions for our coaches. Personally, I like being "fully self contained". I'm sure there is some merit in removing the Onan for some of you, but I like having it when I need it (frequently for running the AC while driving, for one thing). All this makes me wonder how much difference it makes, in fuel economy, driveability, etc. to lighten up a coach by removing things like the Onan, propane tank, etc?
