I keep reading about how the belts supplied by the various manufacturers are getting narrower. I found a web site that sells v-belts and has a cross-reference page for Dayco, Gates, and NAPA belt part numbers (they sell v-belts that match them all at great prices). They list a series of NAPA v-belt part numbers that have the same lengths but are 17/32 wide instead of the standard 15/32.

I know of at least one GMCer that has used the wider belt with success. He substituted a NAPA 25-9610 for the 25-7619 A/C belt and said it works great. The other numbers, according to the site, are the 25-9570 for the standard 25-7570 alternator belt and the 25-9450 for the standard 25-7450 water pump & PS belt. The cross reference page is autobeltsonline.com/autobeltcrossreference.html - has anyone else tried the wider belts? Anyone tried buying from that site?
