Over the weekend, I "rebuilt" my carburetor and reinstalled it today.  I was running the engine to get it warmed up and get some of the adjustments dialed in but, after about half an hour it started to run more and more poorly until it died (due, in part at least, to a poorly adjusted carb). When I tried to restart it, it turned over very slowly. I managed to get it started a couple times but couldn't keep it going. It died again and that was the end of it. Now it just clicks.

Is this most likely the alternator or could it be something else like the regulator?

The battery is brand new. There were no warning lights.

It might also help to keep in mind that a couple of weeks ago when I replaced the belts, I noticed that the alternator shaft had some play in it. Also, the motorhome has been sitting in salty sea air (north San Diego county) for over 10 years without moving.

Thanks for your help,

Steve Thomas
