I have to replace my lower ball joints. Help required!
I have spent the day getting the ball joint RHS free of the lower control arm but not able to get it out (low enough to clear) of the lower control arm. To get to this stage I undid the axle nut removed the bolts holding the axle inner cv joint and attempted to remove the axle as per the manual, not to be even removed the oil filter to gain more movement but no way it fouls on the lower control arm where it is attached to the frame. Do I now need to remove the knuckle by removing it from the upper control arm which is what I was trying to avoid or does some one have a trick to how I should have done this and is the left side the same procedure given that the drive shaft on that side has other obstructions. Note these lower ball joints had been replaced by a PO as they are bolted and not rivetted.
