No issue with alternator belts. I use an 80 amp alternator properly/fully rebuilt by a local firm and a dual belt pulley set. It is rare to be able to keep both belts equally tight as any slop in the mount bolt pivot bore or a slight bend in that forging will allow the alternator to tip slightly which will differentially load the belts. That said, I don't have belt issues. Just be sure to line the pulleys so the belts run straight.

......If you are living large (300 pounds of batteries) you might have a high
start-up load on the alternator with drained batteries (real bad for the
batteries).
But in reality, if you take out 10 amps for 5 hours (50 watt-hours) , you
will not be able to put back 50 amps for 1hour, the batteries will not
accept that.
should ask JerryW what his alternator load is in "living Large".
