Rob,

JP and his family should be back on the road again!
JP repaired the air leak in the tubing.
The air compressor he has attached to the engine (Quick Rise System) had been working until it locked up and they had to cut the belt.
The original GMC compressor wasn't working due to a broken cutoff switch (PO installed). That has been corrected so they now onboard air pressure.
The house electrical was only working when the unit was on shore power (PD9145 supplying the house).
House battery wasn't connected to anything and wasn't being charged either (again due to PO rewiring). This has also been corrected.
Isolator is fully functional.
Systems are now working as originally designed but OEM compressor is marginal (gets to 70 psi on pressure monitoing gauge but tire clearances are OK with 4" at top of tire.

Take Care!!

JP,

The OEM air bag compressor on a '73 Canyonlands (or any other GMC) is not engine driven.

Furthermore as far as I know none of the 455 or 403 cubic engines installed in any GMC had an "air injection pump."

As far as I know the only component mounted under the alternator is the power steering pump.

The A/C compressor is mounted on the opposite side of the engine from the alternator.

Make sure that the brass union you have has a tube to insert into the plastic tubing or the tubing could blow out of the union.

If you have the ability to take photographs of the "air injection pump" and the area around it you could send them to me robmueller
at iinet dot net dot au. I will post them to our Photosite so we can help you better! ;-)

You better send in the pictures quickly I don't know if I'll be so helpful if the Warriors beat Manly! ;-)

The Yanks won't get this!

Regards,
Rob M.
