Hi All,
I'm trying to upgrade the dash lights in The Stray Dog.... (using Ken Novak's upgrade) and have run into a couple of things that I think someone out there might have already encountered. Here is what I could use some help with.
[Note: we have the dash front plate out and the "hood" that goes behind the dash pad which allows us to see in behind the dash frame itself]

1. When we pull the headlight switch, the headlights and running lights come on, but not the dash lights. We did get them to come on momentarily by twisting the headlight switch (using the motion that increases/decreases how bright the gauge back lights are supposed to be). However, after coming on briefly,  maybe 10 seconds the first time - and then only a couple of flickers since,  we cannot get them to come on again. I've checked the fuses behind the glove box and all of them seem to be in order. We checked the wiring going into the headlight switch and everything seems to be seated firmly. I'm wondering if the light switch might be bad or needs to be taken apart and cleaned????

2. The kit suggests using the wiring suppling the light that previously provided illumination to the original fiber optic strand to power up the new unit. However, that circuit is dead. We have traced it back to the main wiring harness and everything appeared to be fine. I did not find an inline fuse anywhere in the wiring that went back to the main harness so that is not it. Does anyone know which fuse in the glove box this is connected to - or what we should check next?

3. Finally, when we started digging into the wiring behind the radio we discovered an unplugged straight, white, six wire male plug about an inch long - with the sequence of blue/yellow/green/green/yellow/blue wires.  I've searched the back of everything we can see and I can't find anything it should be plugged into. Does anyone recognize what that might be for??

Any help, hints, suggestions are most welcome. DC electrical is not my long suit!

Take care and thanks,
Lyle
