Jim is right on how critical the length is. When I installed my back disk breaks I manufactured a new rod. I made it as long as possible to get maximum volume out of master cylinder. It worked great for first year and then on a hot day climbing the cascades we started slowing down and finley came to a stop no matter how much throttle was applied. Had to crack the brake line nuts to relieve pressure so we could move. Pulled into next camp ground and disassembled brakes and found I had installed pin backwards and the difference in the flat end being in the master cylinder piston and the round end was enough to seal the relief ports when every thing expanded on a really hot day.

Live and learn.

So, did anyone miss me?

After my valiant but fruitless effort to get the disc brakes installed and bled on my '76 royale before my Colorado vacation, I am back at it.
For those that don't know, I spent three days after I installed the disc brakes trying to get the lines bled. I was unable to do it in time to use it for my trip.

Work has taken so much time since I returned that I haven't had more than about 20 minutes to work on the GMC this summer. I am hoping that the 20 minutes I spent were worth it. Yesterday before it got too dark, I removed the master cylinder and removed the plunger (pin) from the original power booster and replaced it with the new pin that goes with the new sensitized power booster I have still to install. The new pin is about 1/4" longer than the original pin so I am hoping that it compresses the plunger in the master cylinder enough to give me effective brakes.

Unfortunately, it was quite dark when I finished, so I didn't get a chance to test it. I didn't relish the idea of finding I didn't have any brakes and stopping the GMC by hitting the RV across the way!

I hope I haven't missed too much here!
