I have finally put together all the work we have done or had done to this coach, at a cost of over $16,000 over the past 10 years. Purchase price then was $14,500, so a $30k investment. Email me for a copy of why you should buy this coach if reliability is your number one concern.
It is finally running correctly after the work done in 2010 and only one trip in 2011. The dash air has also been optimized and is surprisingly good. However, we are not done. We will defeat the ethanol problem by dropping the fuel tanks and changing all rubber fuel lines prior to delivering to the buyer. The tanks will be cleaned and sending units replaced as well.
Always ask about the ethanol effect on any GMC you may be interested in. If the seller says no problem, I would question that unless there is proof of work done to overcome this issue. It is a large concern among GMC owners today. Read up on the effects of ethanol on old fuel systems.
We will use the proceeds to rebuild a 1976 GMC Edgemonte which has features we like and was modified by the prior owner.
I am putting together a paper on what to look for when shopping for a GMC motorhome. Your best friend will be receipts for work done. If no or inadequate receipts, agree only to a very low price and expect lots of follow on work required. Ask me how I know that!
