Duce, let's see if we can get your original thought going
I live in the hood.(historic district)The coach sits in my drive. We have no realistic police presence, but have a bumper crop of lowlifes who do patrol for thievery reasons. It's up to me to keep things attached to coach. I also travel on business to major urban areas with my destinations usually not in very good areas. (Theaters, Conv. Centers) Here are some steps I'm taking to keep losses and damages to a minimum.
Camera- I want their picture! Why stop with just a toad cam. For $79-$200 depending on config. (Tiger Direct/CompUSA) has a 4 cam/ w. HD system that will record @ 3 days before recording over itself. The video out will go to a small dash mounted LCD screen that will let you monitor L & R blind-spots, gen. compartment, and toad while driving.
Alarm- I agree with the logic of locking things will lead to damage as they try to get in doors or my old style windows. A glass brk. and or motion sensor will trigger an int. mounted 128db siren and flash lights. They won't be around long and ears should bleed if they enter coach. Newer alarms can also notify you via web or text of their status. Your choice what to do next.
Shut Off- For fire and security reasons I have HD marine type on/off switch located low on the firewall to completely kill coach electrically except alarm.
Safe- I am just starting new interior so I haven't located the ideal spot, but it won't be easy to find. There are just somethings like passports, you can't have stolen.
This forum is loaded with the best engineers and tinkers anywhere. Let's hear some ideas. Help those of us out that don't have those acres, shops and pits I drool over.
Thanks! Pete
Pete
