My boss took the weelkend for his mountain cabin, so I'm on call and working on the coach.  Popped the hatch for a good look at the squirrel.  It looks like it's been there for the 82K showing on the odometer.  Air filter was overdue.  replaced several cracked and hardened vacuum hoses of various sizes.  reconnected the chain for the autopilot. Noted it has had a good looking set of stainless headers installed at some point, mufflers look new and small.  Now I know why it growls when you punch it.  Engine now starts easily and idles smoothly, trans shifts crisply.  And the A/C doesn't sag at cruise throttle.  George worked for a short part of the test trip, then something went 'plink' and he quit.  I expect the chain clip came off.  Full throttle still kills the doors in the A/C, so it needs a check valve and perhaps a reservoir.  Carb needs at least cleaning, it's kinda scurvy looking.  May want a build, if the vacuum line repair and new
air filter don't improve the mileage, a build is in order. I've been 'little ol' ladying' the thing, finally today got the back barrels on the carb open for a bit.  Performance ain't bad at all.
Sitting on the intake I found a tube about eight inches long, and a roll pin maybe a half inch long.  No idea what's afloat in there.  Did GM put the cruise chain from the vacuum servo to the carb linkage in a tube maybe?
Air cleaner wingnut has been replaced with a hex nut, that will be corrected before anyone else is allowed to tinker.  (Ask the QuadraJet gurus about overtightening the cleaner hold down nut.  Does Bad Things to the carb)
AC electrics seem to work OK..  DC coach electrics don't.  However, this is my field of expertise, I can make them all go without a lot of heartburn... takes time, a meter, and a Fox N  Hound, all of which I got.Since the radio comes on but makes no sound, like the CB set, dash removal is in the near future.  I have a spiffy unused Kenwood HD-FM-AM-CD=MP3-etc. which will replace the Hashimoto Mouse radio currently in it.  There's a TV antenna on the roof and a set of photocells, some chaisng is in order.  Cheep flatscreen fromTiger Direct and we're fat city nights.
After the electrics comes plumbing.  Furnace can wait till fall if necessary, but it isn't rusted and looks like it will work on demand.

Tha adventure continues.
