I have had a lot of interest in the coach so far and want to clarify a few things so there is no misunderstanding.
Even though I probably have over $15,000 in the coach it is not a $15,000 coach. When I bought it over 12 years ago I paid about $9,000 for a coach that needed a lot of work. (the good old days when $5,000 for a parts coach was considered a bargain).
When I bought it the coach had a recently rebuilt engine (500 ci Cadillac) and transmission and had 6 solar panels installed. It also has the Wallace front hubs which some like and others don't.
I rebuilt and recovered the dash, installed the new gauge panel (that needs modification), installed new shocks, tires, front and rear sway bars, new generator and electrical panels. I also installed the fuel injection from a 76 Cadillac. I did a lot of interior work and more needs to be done. Exterior needs paint.
Hoses, belts and brake lines have not been replaced. Fuel lines and in tank strainers (socks) were replaced but that was almost 12 yrs ago.
I have probably put less than 200 miles on it since I have owned it and have no idea how it handles on the freeway.
Overall I believe $3,000 is a fantastic price for what you get, but before I drove it a long distance I would have it checked out by someone who is very knowledgeable. Miguel from MGM is probably the closest GMC mechanic. (about 100 miles)
Tex Nielsen was kind enough to post pictures and description on https://spideroak.com/browse/share/tex/1978_royale
Byron Songer is also going to list it on the GMC eastern states website in the for sale section. I appreciate their help.
I will gladly answer any further questions.
