Just removed the pipe (Acetone & ATF mix worked like a charm, especially with Liquid Wrench put on yesterday as well) and looked inside. PO had cut out the valve already. Back to the drawing board. I'll start looking around for a Toronado manifold just in case this one is cracked. I'll also look into putting the insulator under the carb since there doesn't appear to be one there. While I've got it off I'll look for cracks, altho with my eyesight I'll probably never see them unless they're as big as a bus. I know an aluminum manifold is the best fix, but too pricey at this time. Block-off plates will have to do. Engine temp never extended past 3/8 mark at any time & heavy-duty fan does what it's supposed to when it's supposed to do it.
By the way, I hope all of you in the path of the storms keep The Weather Channel on where you can hunker down when they come thru. From what I'm seeing, sturdy buildings would be something I'd be near...
