Have your ever taken a long, serious look at the GMC motorhome? Its aero shape and classic design rival the multi-mega $$ boxes in motorhome design today. Plus we know it was designed from the ground up, not a body stuck on some truck chassis. We even had one run over 100 mph at Bonneville!!
It is the enchantment of the GMC that has drawn and continues to draw people to admire and want one. True, we spend a lot of time, energy and money keeping the coaches up and running, but once behind the wheel, whether a short drive home from storage or a trip cross country, the smile returns to our faces and we know the joy of driving one of these truly unique machines. I have never tired of driving our GMC and I'm always proud to pull into a camp ground knowing we have the only one there among the Some Other Brands(SOBs). Then we have fun leveling the coach without those awkward jacks going down like on the other coaches. Truly a Ferrari among Fords(Mustang excluded).
If your have withheld attending a GMCMI Convention because of the relative high cost, I'd like to suggest you reconsider. Just seeing 120 or more of these coaches in one place is breath taking, not to mention the colorful and unique paint schemes owners have come up with. The people have so much to share that we can learn, the vendors let us know there are people out there who are devoted to helping us maintain and improve our GMCs, the seminars or "how to" presentations are priceless and encouraging, and the GMC Pinewood Derby stirs the competitive spirit. The Conventions are truly enriching experiences and once you attend one, I'll wager you can hardly wait six months for the next one.
We are beginning to see the next, younger generation of
GMC owners. Unlike those of us who were adults in 1973 when the GMC debuted, these folks were kids, yet remember seeing and admiring these coaches. We welcome you into the GMC community.
