Work progresses at a terribly slow pace. After 15 driveways. Alot of wood hauled and 3 roofs shoveled I finally got to work on the new dash. To you who haven't fallowed,,,new dash and converting to electric HVAC controls. Search my old posts. Got the inside air box and the AC plenum out. Got the big outside airbox out. But not without diffuculity. On Caddy installs you have to raise the radiator. Can't get the air box out. Gots to lower the rad back down. And release the top support so it can tilt a little. Would have pulled the top support but it won't come out. Before I got the big airbox out spent a bunch of time making a mount for the little electric motor on the inside upper plenum door. About 95% done on the first one. Made a nice little counter weight for the upper door and a mount thats adjustable a few degrees for fine tuneing. But,,,,,after getting the rest of the airbox out,,,,its just a terrible design. I counted SEVEN 90 degree bends to get air from the fan to you in AC mode!!!5 in heat mode. I don't think you could design a worse system with more bends. I know its all about ease of install and manufacture. But the heater core looks really small. Its no wonder we got such little heat when it was below 32 in Tx on our last trip. Brrrrrrr. Now I'm wondering if a complete diffrent system would be better than this awfull thing. And 78's are supposed to be better than pre-77. Was going to try and convert it to elec. control intact but some of the doors and shafts are way in and up high. O-well,not sure wat to do now,,,,,,,PL
