Hello to all my friends on the GMC net. After encouragement by
several good friends at the recent Las Vegas GMCWS rally, I have
decided to again participate in the GMC net and help Jim in any way I
can to encourage people to install the rear brake reaction arm system
on there GMCs. I know personally that it has prevented me from
having two different serious accidents, one with my original concept
and one with the production unit that Rick Falagan designed that is
now available from Jim K. I finally got to drive Rick's coach at the
Las Vegas rally and confirmed that our to vehicle performed
identically. I have the first design with the reaction arms
connected to the bogie frame and Rick has the later design with the
sway bars reacting the barking forces. His design is much neater
looking, with the two sway bars instead of the reaction arms, and is
simpler to install and cost much less to manufacture.

It sure was a pleasure to talk to the people that drove Rick's GMC
and see the excitement of them discussing their experience. As Steve
F. stated before, there is no use talking about how the system works;
you have to drive a coach with the reaction arm system installed to
see the great improve in braking capability.

You also have to be very careful in who you let work on your GMC. I
lost my rear brakes near Victorville when I slowed down to get off
interstate 15 to get gas at Costco. The left rear brake line hose
had broken where it connected to the caliper. Apparently, the person
(me) that installed the caliper did not torque the two caliper bolts
correctly as they were long gone and the caliper was floating around
in the caliper mount. I was lucky that I didn't have to stop very
rapidly as the front brakes alone don't help much. I couldn't fine a
replacement so I removed the caliper and plugged the brake line and
drove on to Las Vegas and home with five wheel brakes which still
worked much better then by OEM system.
