There was a discussion recently about using inverters to operate house type refrigerators, and there was a question whether to use modified square wave or true sine wave types for this purpose.
Our Frigidaire unit draws more than twice the amps when running on our Trace modified square wave inverter. I haven't tried a true sine wave type, but I would assume that the amp draw would be pretty close to regular line power.
FYI - I just noticed that Harbor Freight has a sale on an 800 watt pure sine wave inverter.

This should be big enough to run any refrigerator you would put in a GMC
