G’day!

IT REALLY WAS!

First of all I would like to note that we were VERY fortunate for the
radiator to fail a few miles from Ken’s home in Americus. Without his help
it would have been a REAL disaster! Adding the hospitality that he and
Elaine provided for the time we were there made it fun, well for Helen and
myself at least! - ;-) I noted that if we hung around much longer they would
be able to add us as dependents when they filed their income tax for 2010!

We finished putting in the radiator yesterday afternoon and got lucky – NO
LEAKS! The new aluminum radiator is really good – I have a 180 thermostat
and that’s where the water temp sat all day!

I ran into a problem re-installing the lower radiator guard. It hit the
re-mounted trans oil cooler. I cut a couple of holes in it to clear the
lower bolts but that was a waste of time as the core hit after that. Ken
looked at it for about a minute and noted that we could re-bend it to fit.
Took all of 5 minutes – I felt like an idiot for not asking him to look at
it before I cut two holes in it that after his rework were unnecessary!

This morning he re-charged the A/C with Dura Cool and we were cool and comfy
driving over to Savannah even though it was 95°!

While I removed the pax side rear wheel and hub (I forgot to release the
parking brake for about 75 miles the day we arrived) he adjusted the
windshield wipers so mine wouldn’t fly off the windshield at high speed.
Fortunately everything was fine when I got the drums off.

We’re visiting the former Chief of Field Service that I worked for just
before I retired from Hamilton Standard. Should be lots of fun telling lies
about how good the good old days were!

All the best,

Rob M.
