I haven't heard this about an Onan yet.
Follow this>>>>>>>
I parked my coach in front of my home recently. [76 Glenbrook]
Onan wouldn't start. Has been behaving normally till now.
Crank and turn over but no joy. Repeated attempts and eventually a start.
Oh joy.
Sat a few days and tried Onan again. Not only no joy but not a peep. No
turnover. Both batteries up to charge.
Tried the remote switch on the Onan itself. No power.
Let it sit a few days.
Thinkin there is some intermittent problem somewhere.
Pull Onan tray out about halfway yesterday. Nice sunny day to work on the
gremlin.
Interrupted by company so abort the testing. Left tray about halfway out.
Today, Sunday it is raining. Well needed, we have had a real dry summer here
in beautiful upstate NY. Not affiliated in any way with the big apple.
Today reading Sunday paper on sun porch having breakfast about 9AM. Quiet
and peaceful morning.
Get up to get more coffee in kitchen and hear an engine running.
Thought at first it was the local farmer who occasionally 'dresses' our dirt
road with his tractor. Looked out and didn't see anything unusual.
It was raining a lot now.
Kept hearing an engine so decided to go outside and look around.
Heard the engine noise from behind the coach. Walked there and sure enuf,
the Onan was running along just fine.
Got into coach and presses rocker switch to off. Held it a second or so as
usual. Onan off.
Let go and Onan started again.
Repeated this twice more and figured there was a problem. Momma didn't raise
no fools.
Went out back and pulled Onan tray all the way out. Still running.
Pushed downward , with effort, the rocker switch on the rear Onan panel and
it worked, shut the baby off. The switch was sticking slightly in its frame.
I had noticed recently the switch is too tight in the metal frame it sits in
but since I never use it, I never bothered to address the problem.
Went inside the coach and tried the rocker switch there.........no joy. No
sound, no electrics.
I now have to chase the gremlin.
But it is still raining so tomorrow will do.
Have I witnessed a first in the trials of the infamous Onan saga or has
someone else had theirs start without human interference?
