How can you tell if the paint the PO had done is lacquer or enamel..
It's needing a wax job, and it's not fun doing it by hand.
The top is a faded gray which is running down the side when it rains.
Wanted to at least sand it done and redo it, but dont know whether to use
lacquer or enamel.
Was just going to use spray can white.

Thankx

Hi Charles,
I had rotting Padded Vinyl in a big band around my coach..
I removed it and then painted the area black with spray cans. I am
surprised you can still get Lacquer, it's been banned in the Peoples State
of California for years. Problem is it needs constant buffing and the sun
tears it up, but it looks good and is easy to use.

I went to a local Automotive paint store and got Auto Enamel in a can. I
prepped as normal , primed and wet sanded to almost auto quality. I then
sprayed the color coat keeping a wet edge.

I then clear coated the black with the same product and gave it a wet sand
with 2000 and good buff with a wool pad. It is still shiny after 18 months
and from 10 feet looks good enough for "she that must be obeyed".

Total cost was under $200.00

It's no custom booth job but we can dream.Good luck with the coach.
