The mystery of my front left wheel continues...

Just came back from another trip to Uncle Jim's in Fremont. Always a
pleasure to go there, the staff is great to work with. Too bad they
only work on GMC's. They communicated well with me during the repair
and had it done quickly. They solved a bunch of issues and gave me
peace of mind on several unknowns aboard but there's one elusive gremlin
that I'm still working out.

I've been chasing down a noise in my front left wheel. On a left turn,
when the weight is a bit off of that wheel, it makes a pretty awful
"clunking" noise. I've looked to see if the tire is rubbing anything
and I don't see any signs. We did a quick test drive in the parking lot
and didn't hear it, but after I drove out the driveway and over the bump
between the lot and the road it came back, though not as bad as before.
Didn't have the time to leave it there right now and keep investigating,
so I'm going to try to figure more of it out on the road and see what I
can do

I've done the upper and lower control arm bushings, the sway bar
bushings, the shocks, the bearings check out okay (Donny says they're
some kind of "wall-less bearing kit" that's different than normal but he
estimates 20k miles to go on them.) I replaced the ball-joints. The
tie rods and steering linkage looks good. Coach is otherwise a pleasure
to drive, goes straight down the road (+3.5 caster from the offset upper
bushings), doesn't jump in the grooves or anything but when I turn left,
especially if some load is lifting up off of that wheel while turning,
"clunk!"

Your thoughts?

Desmond
