We just returned from a week long trip to Silver City NM. yesterday. We like to do a "birthday trip" near our birthdays and this was Kathy's trip (her birthday was July 26). Silver City is about 200 miles from Tucson and at a high enough elevation that it is much cooler there. We stayed at Burro Mountain Homestead RV Park, which is about 13 miles south of Silver and about 7 miles back a dirt (well graded) road west of NM 90.

No problems whatsoever with the coach except for finding a few roof leaks whenever it rained. The coach ran beautifully and towed the Tracker with no problem, even with the stock 3.07 final drive. I would have liked a 3.70, however for the hills and the posi diff would have come in handy for the dirt road. That is on my "list".

I checked the torque on my lug centered Dodge wheels and there was no sign of loosening. They ran straight and true. Trans fluid was still nice and red and fresh looking even after a long climb in second gear at speeds of 40 - 50 mph for about 20 miles. The road from Lordsburg to the Continental Divide is a deceptively steep grade. I kept thinking my towed brakes were dragging until I had Kathy check the elevation gain on the GPS. As fast as she could read out the numbers we were gaining three to four feet at a time.

It was a great trip, and if anyone doesn't mind driving back a graded mountain road, I would really recommend the park. Even in July, the temps ranged from about 60 to about 85, with rain and thunder showers at times (but not enough to ruin the fun). Pictures are at:
