Do you suppose some of the crap in the 1st oil change has to do with
intake during production ?

At 12,400 miles I got a msg that my oil needs to be changed on the 2008
CTS.
The mechanic at the Cad dealer showed me a sample and it was still light
colored. I now have 19k
on the car and the last msg on the dash says I have 47% oil life yet. The
1st 12k miles included
a high speed 5,000 mile trip to AZ and back plus dusty conditions while
there. The 7k miles
since (over 16 months) were local.

I don't know whether this is good or bad but I'm not going to 2nd guess
GM as long as I am
still under warranty. And selling one 1 change per year as opposed to 4 x
per year can't be good for the dealer.
