Friends from many of these groups have been giving us suggestions to keep
the squirrels from eating our plants and bird food, and digging up the
flowers, and we tried another one of the purported solutions.
Hot peppers. We had already tried Cayenne pepper, to no avail.
Whizzed up a handfull of Serrano peppers in the blender and poured the
juice over the birdseed.
Let it dry and put a ring of the treated sunflower seeds on the ground
around the pulp from the blender.
Within an hour, the sunflower seeds were gone, and by nightfall, the
Serrano pepper pulp was gone, too.
Oh, yeah, they still eat or dig up the newly planted flowers that we
doused with the juice.
That myth busted.
