Traveled from Jackson to Rock Springs, WY. Most of trip was above 7,000 ft. Tightened alternator belt before departure. Left RV Park at 11:30 AM. Noticed engine took over 30 miles to reach normal operating temperature. Then went up and down with engine load. But peaked at 195F. Fan clutch seemed to run constantly and not disengage.

About 30 miles from Rock Springs, there was a sudden drop in fan noise and the generator light came on. Drove a couple of miles before I came to a place where I could get off the road. Sure glad I had two belts driving the water pump. Temperature stayed normal.

Re-installed the alternator belt and drove into Rock Springs. Got a site at the Rock Springs KOA. Price was about ½ the Virginian RV park.

Mileage – 192

Vapor Lock – None

Temperature - 85F
