Well Gil at least that is partly reassuring that is not "Just me"
with this new tool :<)
Did you try removing a shock absorber to see if that gave more play
with the hub to possibly eech out more space? I don't want to start
pulling more of the suspension apart if I can avoid it.

I'm sorry you folks are having problems with the wheel bearing
greasing tool you purchased from Applied GMC. I just talked to Jim
K. a few minutes ago and he said he had not received any calls or e-
mail about problems with the tool and neither have I. Apparently all
GMCs are not built the same and some have more axle travel inboard
before they bottom out then others. I just lubed my front wheel
bearings with the tool before I went to the GMCWS rally in Auburn and
did not encounter any problems. Jim also said his people had used
the tool in his shop and did not have any problems. He also said
that any of you folks that purchased the tool and were not happy with
it could return it for a full refund, including return shipping
cost. When I did mine the front suspension was hanging free all the
way down and the wheels were turned all the way to the left and
right. You may want to try that if your suspension was supporting
all or some of the weight.
I will be sending Jim a new drawing where the inside diameter fits on
the larger diameter on the CV joint where the knuckle axial seal
rides instead of the axle shaft. This will only require the axle to
be pushed in approximately 1/2 of what is required for the original
tool. Jim also said anyone that purchased one of the tools can
exchange it for the revised models but it will take some time to get
the revised ones manufactured.
I guess I should have listened to to some of the more knowledgeable
GMC experts that stated about a dozen reasons why the tool should not
be used when I first posted info on it on the net.
