Q. Like a lot of people on the net, I've been following the
discussions carefully. I'm convinced (even without vector analysis)
that at some point I want to upgrade to Chuck's brakes, but also like
others, "at some point" is limited by budget. And even after the
$4000 parts purchase, unless you do the work yourself, installation
costs are not trivial, though I've never seen an estimate of that.

A. As far as I know Jim's shop has only installed two sets so far;
one on his coach and one on Rick's coach. I installed my own set
that Jim gave to me. Myself, I can install the entire kit faster
than I could change a set of brake shoes and hubs. Anyone that can
install a few bolts and nuts could install the kit. The most
difficult part is drilling the two holes in the frame at each sway
bar mount. You will have to check with Jim K for installations coast.

Q. But I'm wondering about the high cost. I assume these kits are
basically hand-built, and don't have any feel for what Chuck and Rick
are charging for their shop time to do the building, though I'm
confident it's more than reasonable, still, it's bound to be a labor
intensive process, and, to my point, there might be significant
savings if it could be mass-produced, or at least batch-produced.
Without guaranteed orders, though, I can understand reluctance to
invest the many thousands of dollars to make that happen. So, is a
group buy an option?

A. You are correct on most of your statements except for a couple of
points. Rick and I have nothing to do with the manufacturing of the
kits and we do not receive any $s for our work. Jim does give us any
parts we need for our GMCs and he has provided free service on Rick's
GMC and he has offered it to me put I live too far away for that to
be practical. I'm sue the coast would reduced considerably if Jim had
a large group buy.

Q.. And another question to Chuck and Rick: Is the design stable at
this point? I've seen mention of rev-1 and rev-2, so the question is,
are other revisions in the works?

A. There has been only one revision and that was to reduce coast by
replacing the reaction bars and there expensive bogie frame mount
with sway bars. No other changes are planned unsell some of you folks
come up with some revisions which we have been asking for.
