If the motor is in good tune and timing is to spec, just bring it in. There's not much to the emissions system on these coaches and though Biennial inspection is still required on 1976-up vehicles, the emmissions limits ar pretty forgiving. I bought my 50,000 mile original 1976 Eleganza II last year, revived it from a four-year slumber, did nothing more than an ignition tuneup and replace a cracked exhaust manifold, and it passed. When I was GMC shopping I wanted pre-76 because of smog concerns, but I couldn't pass this one up and it's a non-issue to me now that I am familiar with the coach.
By the time this posts you will probably already have your CA smog certificate in hand. Good luck!
