We DID put the chain by the strut, we DID follow the instructions carefully, and it DID bend the bumper supports permanently
and cause oil to leak out!! When in use, the bumper was pointing skyward, and it still has a noticeable upward tilt.
Ours is a '73. I believe they changed the way the bumpers are mounted in later models.
Needless to say, we will try to avoid use of the OEM jack in future!
