On another thread, there is a discussion about accumulators on the water
pumps. It maybe because I fix all of my own systems, but I removed my
surge tank because I want to hear when the pump runs.

I can tell , if the pump runs, how long it runs, and when it runs, the
condition of my systems in the GMC. I have had two pin hole leaks in the
water system that would cause the pump to cycle.

*WATER PUMP*
1 If the pump runs, someone better be running a faucet or toilet or I have
a leak.
2 If the pump comes on at night I have a leak (and someone forgot to turn
the pump off)
3 I have a variable speed pump so slow speed is a small flow, fast is a
large flow.
4 If the pump runs when I turn on the pump power switch, I have a leak
somewhere.

*VACUUM PUMP*
1 When the pump runs runs, when I turn on the ignition key, and stops after
a short run, I know the brake system is working.
2 If the pump cycles when the engine is running and I am not braking in
town, I know the booster or the pump is having a problem.

*AIR COMPRESSOR*
1 When I raise the GMC off of the blocks, I can tell by how long the pump
runs, the condition of my leveling system
2 I drive in "TRAVEL" position, the pump never comes on, if it does, I
have leak somewhere.

So when I get in the drivers seat, and power up the GMC, I can tell by
listening to heart beats of the GMC if all systems are running or if I have
a problem. When I see an indicator light, I tend to suspect the indicator
circuit ;>)
